O WORKSHOP ARQUITECTURA E CINEMA explorará a forma como a arquitectura, real ou encenada, é utilizada no cinema e a forma como o cinema, nas suas múltiplas dimensões, pode ser uma ferramenta no processo criativo e na percepção da arquitectura. No Workshop serão exploradas, através de exercícios práticos, a forma como a arquitectura e o cinema criam um sentido de lugar, isto é, a expressão visível de um sentimento a que chamamos ambiente ou atmosfera. Analisará também o modo como o cinema representa o espaço, através de uma multiplicidade de pontos de observação, colocando em cena a cidade e a arquitectura, conformando um olhar analítico sobre a sua espacialidade. O WORKSHOP ARQUITECTURA E CINEMA ensaiará a semelhança entre os modos de fazer arquitectura e cinema, já que ambos são processos que exigem projecto. A primeira semana terá uma abordagem teórico-prática, com palestras seguidas de pequenos exercícios em aula e na segunda semana serão desenvolvidas curtas metragens através de trabalho em grupo. O Workshop será orientado por Monika Koeck, arquitecta, cineasta e fundadora da companhia Cinetecture, sediada no Reino Unido.
WORKSHOP CONTENT:
Practical exercises accompanied by screenings, analysis and discussions of selected film clips that are relevant to the workshop content, with particular emphasis on framing, depth of field, lighting, aesthetic structures, point of view, continuity shooting and editing, montage, and sound. Further, participants will become familiar with the basics of shooting and cutting, using a digital video camera and editing suite.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE:
Week 1: Participants will explore the basics of digital video production and postproduction through 4 practical exercises, each focussing on a particular filming and editing technique. The result of the first week will be a 2-minute moving image piece expressing the character of a space on campus through a narrative-expressive use of space and body.
Week 2: Participants will be guided in designing their own moving image project. The result will be a 2-minute student devised moving image piece applying the techniques learnt in week 1.
