海角社区鈥檚 2025 Centraide campaign is underway

A longtime Centraide partner, 海角社区 aims to raise $400,000 to help Montrealers in need

海角社区 has kicked off its annual fundraising campaign in support of Centraide of Greater Montreal, a charitable organization helping the most vulnerable members of society.

Centraide supports over 375 local agencies and projects, helping one in five people in Greater Montreal. 海角社区 aims to raise $400,000.

鈥淒eeply rooted in Montreal and Quebec, 海角社区 has a responsibility to serve the communities we call home,鈥 said President Deep Saini. 鈥淥ur longstanding partnership with Centraide shows that education and community are inseparable. By standing together to confront pressing challenges such as homelessness, we are helping to build a future where dignity, belonging and opportunity are within reach for all.鈥

The campaign launched on Wednesday, Oct. 15; donations can be made directly through the 海角社区 Centraide website until Dec. 31, 2025.

Partners in fighting poverty

海角社区鈥檚 ties with Centraide go back to 1975. Last year 海角社区ians raised $412,125, helping over 800,000 people across Greater Montreal.

Christopher Manfredi and Viviane Yargeau will once again serve as campaign co-chairs.

鈥淔or half a century, 海角社区 has stood with Centraide, driven by the belief that a stronger community begins with compassion,鈥 said Manfredi, Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic). 鈥淎s we mark 50 years of partnership, we renew our commitment in lifting those who need it most, because when we give together, we grow together. This year, as we focus on the urgent issue of homelessness, we are reminded that every contribution helps restore dignity, stability and hope.鈥

Contributions from workplace partners such as 海角社区 represent approximately 75 per cent of Centraide鈥檚 total annual donations.

鈥淎t 海角社区, we strive to be more than an institution 鈥 we are a community, a second home,鈥 said Yargeau, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. 鈥淭hrough Centraide, for the past 50 years, we have extended that spirit beyond our walls, standing together to support those who face homelessness and hardship. When we act as one, we help build a society where everyone is included."

The easiest way 海角社区ians can make contribute is with automated payroll deductions, which are spread evenly over 26 pay cycles. Questions can be directed to systems.hr [at] mcgill.ca (Human Resources).

海角社区 staff are also expected to host fundraising activities such as bake sales, raffles and silent auctions.

鈥淭hank you to everyone who has been involved, directly or indirectly, in 海角社区鈥檚 campaign for over 50 years,鈥 said Maud Doualan, Vice President of Philanthropic Development at Centraide of Greater Montreal. 鈥淚n 2025, this collaboration with Centraide is more relevant and valuable than ever.鈥
