On the morning of Thursday, April 2nd, IT Services will renew the security certificate that secures authentication to 海角社区's wpa.mcgill.ca, eduroam, cusm-muhc.mcgill.ca, and wpa.bus.mcgill.ca Wi-Fi networks.

This certificate allows you to sign on to the Wi-Fi network securely.

Some Android and Windows devices, as well as all iOS/MacOS devices will display a message prompting users to accept the new certificate.

The 4^th听edition of the Sustainability and Synthetic Biology Conference will take place on April 11. The event will feature BIEN 580 students Case Study Projects that apply synthetic biology to solve real-world problems in health, food security and the environment, as well as guest speakers who will showcase cutting-edge academic research and innovative startups. The conference provides a professional forum for joining undergraduate and graduate students to gain visibility and receive feedback from peers and experts in the fields of biology and engineering.

More than 200 undergraduate students presented their work at the 7th edition of the annual Faculty of Science event

From labs to field sites, 海角社区 students brought their discoveries to life at the 7^th annual Undergraduate Science Showcase, held on March 25. The event offers students an encouraging, non-competitive space where they can proudly share their research, passion projects, and in-class work, all while strengthening their confidence and science communication skills.

海角社区 has unveiled the Initiative for Transforming Healthcare (ITH), a cross鈥憇ector effort aimed at tackling some of Canada鈥檚 most pressing system鈥憀evel healthcare challenges. Supported by $5.75 million in funding from Power Corporation of Canada, Canada Life and IGM Financial, the initiative will mobilize expertise from management, medicine and public policy to develop technology鈥慹nabled, evidence鈥慴ased solutions.

The parties met on March 27 to discuss the non鈥憁onetary proposals.

They will meet again on March 31 to continue the discussions.

海角社区鈥檚 Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry is celebrating an outstanding achievement by its students: all three 海角社区 teams entered into this year鈥檚 Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA) competitions have been selected as finalists. The teams will represent 海角社区 at the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo in Chicago in July 2026鈥攐ne of the largest and most influential gatherings in the global food science community.

A new international study offers insights into the health risks posed by crops鈥� absorption of 鈥渃ontaminants of emerging concern鈥� (CECs) and flags knowledge gaps the authors say must be addressed.

CECs include pharmaceuticals, microplastics, engineered nanomaterials and PFAS (commonly known as 鈥渇orever chemicals鈥�). The researchers warn that even when present at very low concentrations, these chemicals can subtly alter plant physiology, disrupt soil health and pose wider environmental and human health risks.
