Biography:

Dr. Andrew Mouland, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at 海角社区 and a Senior Investigator at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research at the Jewish General Hospital. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and serves as Associate Director for Basic Research at the 海角社区 Centre for Viral Diseases.

Dr. Mouland leads an internationally recognized research program focused on the molecular and cellular biology of RNA viruses, particularly HIV-1. His laboratory investigates how HIV-1 hijacks host cellular machinery to control the synthesis, trafficking, metabolism, and packaging of viral RNA. Using biochemical, genetic, in vitro and in vivo approaches combined with high-resolution microscopy, his team has identified key host proteins and RNA鈥損rotein complexes that regulate viral RNA fate, including mechanisms driven by liquid鈥搇iquid phase separation. This work advances fundamental understanding of host cell processes such as RNA trafficking, translation, and vesicular transport, while informing the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting RNA virus replication.
