WHMIS

• WHMIS 2015 is required if you work in a lab with chemicals, biological or radioactive materials. This course is also needed if you work with laser equipment or in a workshop or a garage.听Certification WHMIS-2015 covered in chapters 12 & 13 of ASP Health & Safety on Construction Sites: At 海角社区, the certification is recognized for the trades for a three-year period.

Hazardous Waste Disposal Training

• This course is required if you produce laboratory waste during the course of your work, and/or need access to a waste room.

Other Courses

• Specialized courses such as Introduction to Biosafety, Safe Use of Biological Safety Cabinets, Radiation Safety,听Laser Safety, Cannabis and Controlled Substances, and Asbestos听are needed if you use, work, handle or store respective materials and equipment.

A) The following courses have training videos and exams that can be done entirely online at your own convenience. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Please see the video and follow the steps below to register for the following courses:

• Respiratory Protection, N95, and Reusable; Prerequisite to fit tests

1. Sign into the EHS Safety Training System - Web Training*. Note that you need to be on campus or connect though the to access the registration system.
2. Click 'Start' for the course you want to take. This will open the course outline with a link to the course notes and a link to access the online course video.
3. After watching the training video and reading the course notes, answer the questions in the online exam. Note: Take your time to read and understand the course materials prior to taking an online exam. All the failed results are cumulative and are kept on your Safety Training Personal History Report.

B) Registration for the following courses occurs directly on EHS' website:

• Respiratory Protection Fit Testing
• First Aid in the Workplace

C) Radiation Safety - this 7 hour course is only given in-person. Please register for this course using the . Note that you need to be on campus or connect though the to access the Safety Training System. You will receive an email confirming your registration from mylab.ehs [at] mcgill.ca

Can I register for a training course if I am not a 海角社区 student or staff member?

YES. However, it is limited to affiliated and visitors having a direct link with a 海角社区 laboratory, department, project.听Go here to register.

Courses taken online through the . Note that you need to be on campus or connect though the to access the safety training听system. Once you select and start the online course, you will see the course outline with links to the course notes and training video.

Note that it may be useful to have the course notes available in a separate window while doing the online exam. The pdf version of all EHS training course notes is available on EHS' website under Safety Training Course Notes (restricted).

Once you've passed an online exam in the EHS Safety Training system, your results will be available in your Training Records. If you have issues finding your training records in the EHS Safety Training System, please watch the (including course certificate and summary of safety trainings).

• Transport of Dangerous Good [TDG]
  • On demand only. See your Lab Manager, Professor, Supervisor first. Your supervisor will contact EHS for eligibility.
  • Class 6.2 Category B Infectious materials, and Class 9 Dry Ice
  • Class 6.2 Category A Infectious disease

Unless otherwise stated, most safety training certification is valid for 3 years.

Refresher safety training (ie. re-taking the course and exam) is mandatory after 3 years of formal training. Please refer to Safety Training Exams for more information.

We do not recognize safety training received at another institution, exception listed below. However, if you have recently completed external safety training you can challenge our online exam via the EHS Safety Training System - Web Training* . Refer to "Which courses can be completed online" Tab above,听*Note that you need to be on campus or connect though the to access the Safety Training System.


海角社区 recognizes previous certification from other institutions for the following course:

• Radiation Safety, at the discretion of the 海角社区 Radiation Safety Officer
• Quantitative Fit Test, and N95, at the discretion of RPP team
• CNESST-First Aid in the Workplace [14h]
• Note: WHMIS-2015 chapters 12 & 13: At 海角社区, the certification is recognized for the trades for a three year period. To maintain certification, visit WHMIS section

Quels cours dois-je suivre ?
Demandez 脿 votre professeur* ou 脿 votre responsable de laboratoire.

SIMDUT
SIMDUT 2015 est requis si vous travaillez dans un laboratoire avec des produits chimiques, des mati猫res biologiques ou radioactives. Comment obtenir un certificat de formation ?

Dur茅e de validit茅 des certifications :
En g茅n茅ral, 3 ans. Un recyclage est obligatoire apr猫s 3 ans.

Reconnaissance des formations externes :
海角社区 ne reconna卯t pas les formations externes sauf exceptions (S茅curit茅 radiologique, test d鈥檃justement, CNESST-Premiers soins). Pour ajouter une certification, soumettez le formulaire en ligne avec une copie PDF via le portail de services.
