Associate Professor, º£½ÇÉçÇø Health Centre

Dr. Alexandra de Pokomandy is Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at º£½ÇÉçÇø and a Clinician Scientist at the Research Institute of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Health Centre (MUHC). She has over 20 years of experience in HIV care, and practices at the Chronic Viral Illness Service of the MUHC since 2009. She is the director of the Quebec HIV Cohort and of the Cohort in Primary Care (COPRI). Her research focuses on strengthening primary and HIV care, preventing comorbidities related to viral infections (HIV, HPV, respiratory infections), advancing health equity, and integrating engagement of people with lived experience to improve care for populations affected by stigma and social disadvantage. 

Mission that guides her research program:

Through a learning health system approach, she uses cohort studies to generate knowledge aimed at enhancing care for conditions associated with viral infections, namely HIV, HPV, and respiratory tract infections. Her research emphasizes the personalization of care based on gender and other social and structural determinants of health to ensure that the care is efficient, person-centered, and equitable.
