Dr. Hirsh Rosenfeld Distinguished Public Lecture in Family Medicine: Fixing Primary Care in Canada: A Social Science Perspective

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 19:00to20:00
Price:
Free

Canada’s primary care system is in crisis and the shortage of doctors is only one visible symptom. This talk draws on insights from social science to explore how policy choices, institutional cultures, and structural inequities have shaped the system we have today. It makes the case for increasing investments toward prevention and community-based care — including social prescribing, community health workers, and integrated social supports — as part of a broader vision for equitable, effective primary care. Drawing on examples from Canada and globally, it offers a fresh, interdisciplinary perspective on how we got here and what it will take to move forward.

The presentation will be in English but comments and questions in French are most welcome.
