Albina Tskhay is a PhD candidate in the Department of Family Medicine at 海角社区. She is co-supervised by Prof. Tibor Schuster and Prof. Cristina Longo. Her PhD was supported by the Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� Sant茅 and 海角社区鈥檚 Computational and Data Systems Initiative.

Albina Tskhay
Albina's thesis contextualizes modern causal inference methods for microbiome research. Across four projects, she (1) conducted a systematic review showing that most recent studies do not use methods capable of estimating causal effects; (2) tested and applied an automated tool to track causal claims across more than 20,000 abstracts; (3) created a practical guide to applying causal inference assumptions in microbiome studies; and (4) evaluated advanced methods, including deep latent variable models to address unmeasured confounding.
