Biography:

Prof. Aishat Zango Abdu is a public health nutrition researcher working at the intersection of gender equality, food systems, and nutrition in low- and middle-income countries. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global and Public Health at ��. Her research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods and is grounded in community-based and participatory approaches. Dr. Abdu has conducted extensive fieldwork in Ghana and led a multi-country program evaluation in Kenya, Tanzania, and Bangladesh, examining how women’s empowerment and gender-transformative strategies shape food security, diet quality, and health outcomes. Her work bridges academia, policy, and practice, advancing science–policy exchange through institutional, North–South, and South–South collaborations with academic partners and international organizations. Dr. Abdu holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Ahfad University for Women (Sudan) and a Master of Science and PhD in Human Nutrition from ��.

Biography:

Dr. Guillaume Fontaine (PhD, MSc, RN) is an Assistant Professor of Implementation Science at ��’s Ingram School of Nursing, Director of the �� RISE³ Implementation Science Lab, FRQ-S Junior 1 Research Scholar, and Principal Investigator at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology, Lady Davis Institute. Additionally, he holds visiting appointments in the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, and the Centre for Implementation Research, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He co-leads the Implementation Science Pillar for the CIHR/PHAC Canadian Network on Hepatitis C, Co-Lead of the Methods Think Tank for the CIHR Pan-Canadian HIV/AIDS and STBBIs Clinical Trials Research Network and sits on the Steering Committee of Knowledge Translation Canada. His research program focuses on applying and advancing implementation science frameworks and methodologies to improve healthcare outcomes, with a focus on infectious diseases.

Dr. Nicole E. Basta is an Associate Professor with a primary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health. She also serves as Associate Director of Clinical Research at the JD MacLean Centre for Tropical and Geographic Medicine and Program Director for the MSc in Epidemiology. Dr. Basta is an infectious disease epidemiologist and Canada Research Chair in Infectious Disease Prevention. As PI of the Vaccines, Infectious disease Prevention, and Epidemiology Research (VIPER) Group at ��, she specializes in designing and implementing epidemiologic studies to generate rigorous empirical evidence needed to inform optimal disease prevention and control strategies and to guide health policy locally and globally. Dr. Liu is a Canadian practicing paediatric emergency physician and professor at ��’s School of Population & Global Health where she focuses on polycrisis and health emergencies. Prior to joining ��, she was the International President of Médecins Sans Frontières for over six years from 2013-2019. Through her leadership, she spearheaded the emergency responses to humanitarian and health emergencies including outbreaks/epidemics in West (Ebola 2014-2016) and denounced the attacks on hospitals at the UNSC on May 2016 which led to the UNSC resolution 2286 on the Protection of the Medical Mission in conflict zones. She practices mediation/negotiation in conflict zones and medical emergency aid delivery in the humanitarian aid sector.
