S茅bastien Jodoin and Helge Dedek to serve as Associate Dean (Academic)

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor S茅bastien Jodoin will serve as Associate Dean (Academic) until 1 June 2025. Professor Helge Dedek will then succeed him, beginning his previously announced term as Associate Dean (Academic).

Distinguished colleague retires, to be named professor emeritus

With sincere gratitude, the Faculty of Law is bidding farewell to Professor Fran莽ois Cr茅peau, OC, OQ, FRSC, Ad E, who will retire from his role as full professor on 31 July 2025. He will then be named Professor Emeritus, remaining an esteemed member of our community.

We are delighted to announce that Acting Dean Tina Piper has been named Interim Dean for the Faculty of Law. Her appointment was announced by Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) Christopher Manfredi on 28 February 2025.

We are pleased to announce that Associate Dean (Academic) Tina Piper has been appointed Acting Dean for the Faculty of Law, following the appointment of Justice Robert Leckey to the Superior Court of Quebec.

Dean Robert Leckey appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec

With mixed feelings, the Faculty of Law extends its sincerest congratulations to the Hon. Robert Leckey on his appointment to the Superior Court of Quebec, District of Montreal. His appointment, effective immediately, was announced by the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on 27 January 2025. Justice Leckey replaces Justice Christian Immer, BCL鈥�91, LLB鈥�91, who has been elevated to the Court of Appeal of Quebec.

Prestigious chairs renewed for two colleagues

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce the reappointment of Professor Allison Christians as holder of the H. Heward Stikeman Chair in Taxation Law, and Professor Marie Manikis as William Dawson Scholar. Their appointments have been renewed for seven and five years, respectively.

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce it was once again ranked as one of the world鈥檚 top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed 海角社区 33rd worldwide.鈥�鈥�听

Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, 海角社区 has consistently featured in the global top 35. This year, 389 law schools around the world were ranked. 鈥�听

New phase of Chancellor Day Hall modernization begins: construction work to come in 2025

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce the start of long-awaited modernization of its teaching facilities. The second floor of New Chancellor Day Hall will be completely remodelled to create larger, updated classrooms, fit for our professors鈥� current pedagogical approaches.

Rosalie Jukier named Sir William C. Macdonald Chair

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Rosalie Jukier has been appointed to one of the Faculty of Law鈥檚 Sir William C. Macdonald Chairs, effective 1 January 2025.

Established in 1895, the Macdonald Chairs are among the oldest endowed positions at 海角社区.

Adelle Blackett appointed Senior Advisor to the Director-General at UN鈥檚 International Labour Organization
