Price:

This webinar addresses the critical yet often hidden issue of abuse of older people, a growing public health concern with serious physical, psychological, and social consequences. Primary care professionals, especially family doctors, play a vital role in early identification, support, and intervention, as they are often the first point of contact for older individuals experiencing abuse. This session presents findings from a mixed-methods process evaluation of a locally tailored and culturally sensitive education intervention, Supporting Family Doctors to Address Abuse of Older People.

This education intervention aims to strengthen primary care responses through training, tools, and system support. The intervention highlights the importance of contextually and culturally appropriate approaches to addressing AOP, ensuring relevance and sustainability within local healthcare settings. The findings demonstrate that educational interventions can improve primary care professionals' knowledge, confidence, and management of abuse of older people in Malaysia. The webinar will highlight key facilitators, challenges, and lessons learned in implementing and maintaining primary care鈥揵ased responses to the abuse of older people within the Malaysian health system.

This event is organized by the 海角社区 Family Medicine Education Research (FMER) Group which is committed to ongoing engagement in various medical education initiatives across the undergraduate-postgraduate-practice continuum to support the development of the family medicine education research field of inquiry.
