After Applying

At this point, please limit your contact with the Admissions Committee so they can remain impartial in the selection process. Only reach out to the committee if necessary. Personal emails, reference letters or emails of influence must not be sent to the Dean, Chair or Members of the Admission Committee before or during selection process. This type of solicitation is highly discouraged, will not increase the chance of success, and will be documented in your applicant dossier.

Interview Information - Virtual Multiple Mini Interviews (vMMI)

Applicants invited for an interview will be interviewed through virtual multiple mini-interviews (vMMI) in asynchronous format. This means that applicants will be able to start and complete the interview on their own time anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST on TBC by recording their answers. The interview will last less than an hour and must be completed in one attempt. Interviews must be completed before 5 p.m.

It is your responsibility to be available for the given interview timeframe. No repeat sessions or special accommodations will be arranged if you miss your scheduled interview. A candidate who does not attend may have their application cancelled.

If you have been invited to an interview please check your email inbox, including its junk and spam folders in case the invitation was sent there. You should receive a registration link for the interview in late January. After you register, you will be able to access the asynchronous vMMI on the day of your interview between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST. The interview date will be on TBC.

To confirm your attendance, you must complete the following steps in your applicant portal:

  1. PROVIDE ONE PIECE OF PHOTO ID
    From among the following:

    • Passport (include signature page)
    • Driver's license (Canada or US only)
    • Health care card (Canadian residents only)
    • Canadian Permanent Residency card
    • University or college ID card (Canada or US only) - must contain full name, date of birth, and clear photo
    • International Student Identity Card (ISIC) - must contain full name, date of birth, and clear photo
  2. SIGN THE DENTISTRY听NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT (DNDA) FORM
    Print and carefully read听the Dentistry Non-Disclosure Agreement Form (see next section, below, for more information) which sets out your obligation to maintain the confidentiality of the interview process. Candidates will not be allowed to proceed to the interview without a completed form on their applicant dossier.

Dentistry Non-Disclosure Agreement (DNDA) Form

If you are invited for an interview, you will need to sign the Dentistry Non-Disclosure Agreement (DNDA) Form.听To be valid, the document must also be signed by a witness who was present when you signed the DNDA Form, and who can attest that you have read and agreed to its terms. We accept family members as witnesses. Scan and upload a copy of the signed form to the Dentistry Non disclosure Agreement Form section on your application checklist, via your applicant portal. You will see the DNDA Form as one of your checklist items on the applicant portal. The form has to be completed and uploaded to the applicant portal as it is required for attending interviews.听Candidates will not be allowed to proceed to the interview without a completed form on their applicant dossier.

Follow the links below to the听English and French versions of the DNDA Form.

Request Interview Accommodations

If you have a disability or a medical condition that may affect your ability to undertake the Virtual Multiple Mini-Interviews (vMMI), please refer to our instructions below to request special accommodation. Documentation from a healthcare professional and university/Cegep disability accommodation service will be required.

  1. YOUR REQUEST TO OBTAIN ACCOMMODATIONS

    Any applicant with functional limitation(s) or learning needs who wishes to obtain accommodations at 海角社区 for undergraduate Dental Medicine admissions interviews must submit a request and supporting documentation via听the link included in their interview invitation or interview waitlist notification.

    By submitting a request, the applicant authorizes Faculty Admissions staff to consult any relevant party (including 海角社区 Student Accessibility & Achievement representatives, healthcare professionals, or other experts) and to perform all necessary verifications for the study and analysis of their request. Only requests submitted using the prescribed form听will be considered.

    To support their request, the applicant must also provide all supporting documents that include details of any previously approved accommodations.

    The applicant must submit their accommodation request and supporting documents by the date indicated in their interview invitation or interview waitlist notification letter. This is typically within 3 days of receiving your invitation or notification, so it is recommended to start preparing your request when you first apply. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the accommodation request not being considered.

    Note that these accommodations do not automatically apply to the educational curriculum of the program. Admitted students are responsible for registering with 海角社区 Student Accessibility and Achievement to request academic accommodations prior to beginning the program. More information is available on the 海角社区 Student Accessibility & Achievement website.

  2. OUR STUDY OF THE REQUEST

    Once we听confirm听the accommodation request is complete, we听proceed to the analysis. When necessary, we may consult any relevant party (including 海角社区 Student Accessibility & Achievement听谤别辫谤别蝉别苍迟补迟颈惫别蝉, healthcare professionals, or other experts).

    When evaluating an accommodation request, the Faculty ensures that your听supporting documents contain all the information needed to study the request, that the condition justifying accommodations still persists, that the requested accommodations are justified in the context of the vMMI, and that the Faculty can provide the requested or alternative accommodations.

    If needed, authorized Faculty Admissions Office staff and, in some cases, 海角社区 Student Accessibility & Achievement staff may communicate with you to:

    • Ask you to specify your needs;
    • Discuss possible accommodations;
    • Clarify health specialist recommendations relevant to your situation;
    • Inform you of missing elements in your request;
    • Guide you on the steps necessary to enable their continued study of your request.

    To complete their study of your听request, the authorized Faculty Admission staff听or representatives of听海角社区 Student Accessibility & Achievement may communicate with you to:

    • Request additional supporting documentation if the provided documents are incomplete;
    • Request updated documentation if your situation may have changed since your previous accommodation request at the University or Faculty, or since the issuance of your supporting documentation;
    • Request a report or evaluation signed by an expert when a specific diagnosis or professional judgment is needed;
    • Seek a second opinion if deemed necessary upon receipt of your documents;
    • Request additional documentation if you ask to modify accommodations already in place.

Once their study of your request is complete, you will receive an email confirmation of the accommodations that will be implemented or notification of the refusal, as the case may be. Applicants with approved accommodations will have a checklist item added to their applicant portal, where they must upload their signed letter of accommodation.

Unless otherwise indicated, you will benefit from these accommodations for all scheduled vMMI sessions. Candidates invited to interview in future cycles requesting accommodations again can indicate on the form if their documents are still the same; if yes, then the request will be reviewed with the same conditions.

The Faculty Admissions Office is responsible for ensuring that accommodations are implemented during the interview process.

Where necessary and with your consent, they may inform vMMI interviewers of your specific accommodations and needs.

All requests are handled confidentially and in compliance with applicable privacy laws. The decision is digitally recorded and stored on 海角社区鈥檚 secure server. Only information necessary to implement accommodations is shared, and only with those who require it to perform their role in applying accommodations. Information is transmitted in a way which preserves confidentiality. Recipients of personal information are also bound by confidentiality. Your personal information is processed according to the 海角社区 Privacy Notice.

Final decisions

Decisions rendered by the Admissions Committee are final and not subject to appeal.

Final decisions are released by email and confirmed via your applicant portal.

Candidates applying for the DMD program will be notified by end of March or early April whether they have been accepted, placed on the waiting list, or not accepted. Acceptance is conditional upon receipt of a Bachelor's degree and upon the candidate鈥檚 completion of the Compulsory Immunization Program by the start of class.

Accept an offer

For the first series of offers, successful applicants must respond to the offer of admission within two weeks. Candidates on the waiting list who receive an offer of admission may be given a shorter period of time to respond.

Please refer to the I've been accepted听page on our website for more information on the steps to complete after receiving an offer of admission, including information on the听immunization program and the Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification requirements.

Defer admission

Admission into the first year of our DMD program may be exceptionally deferred for a period of one (1) year at the discretion of the Admissions Committee (non-renewable). A deferral request can only be made once you receive an offer of admission.

If your request for deferral is granted, you will need to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit upon confirming your deferral.

You must upload a letter to your applicant portal to submit your deferral request. This letter should be addressed to the Chair of Admissions, and should set out the reason(s) for your request including any relevant supporting documentation. It should be no more than two pages long. You must submit your request no later than July 15.

Post-interview waitlist

The waitlist for each applicant category is distinct, and positions cannot be interchanged between categories. The Admissions Office only retains a certain number of applicants on the waiting lists. Offers of admission are made when places become available. As offers are contingent upon the decisions of other applicants, it is impossible to predict if and when places will become available.

Please note that the number of available seats will vary from year to year and depends on student attrition.

Offers of admission can be made at any time until the beginning of class in mid August. Candidates on the waitlist are expected to complete the immunization program and the Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification requirements.

IMPORTANT: Due to long delays in acquiring the required immigration documents to study at 海角社区, no offer of admission will be made to international candidates past May 1听unless the candidate already lives in Quebec and has a valid study permit that can be renewed before the expiry date. In case of cancellation from an admitted international candidate, the available seat will go to the next candidate on the Quebec residents list.
