海角社区

Message from the Chair: March 2026

This month we鈥檝e had ice storms, warm temperatures, extreme winds, multiple snowfalls, Spring Break and our Department participation at the St Patrick鈥檚 Day parade!

I extend a big thank you to those of you who donated to 海角社区24 on March 11 the University鈥檚 annual day of giving (if you missed the opportunity but still want to donate, ). Your donations directly supported Family Medicine Academic Day 2026, coming up on June 3 at the Centre Mont-Royal. Please save this date in your agendas as registrations will be open by the end of April.聽With your help, Family Medicine Academic Day will shape reflective, evidence-informed family physicians who will serve communities across Quebec and beyond.

On March 3 we were pleased with 海角社区鈥檚 CaRMS results! We fully filled all our sites in Montreal and Mont茅r茅gie and filled a good number of positions in Val d鈥橭r and Gatineau. On April 21 we will find out if some of the vacancies in the latter two sites will be filled, when results of the second CaRMS iteration become available. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is planning a career panel for students, featuring physicians who did not get their first choice in CaRMS. Please reach out to OMLA Career Advisor elizabeth.lefebvre1 [at] mcgill.ca if you would like to participate

Over the past month, several members of our Department were honoured with UGME teaching awards, and a full story will appear in next month鈥檚 newsletter.

Coming up this month, there are many events scheduled, so please check your weekly Events Bulletin!

On April 17, the second iteration of the 海角社区 Refresher Procedures Course (fully booked already) will be held.

Also, you are all warmly invited to the Annual Dr. Hirsh Rosenfeld Distinguished Public Lecture in Family Medicine coming up on April 21 at 7pm at the Department, delivered by Prof. Alayne Adams: Fixing Primary Care in Canada: A Social Science Perspective. Register here.

Looking forward to seeing you at some of these events, and most definitely on Academic Day on June 3. Note that the resident graduate ceremony will be held in the evening of June 3, also at the Centre Mont Royal.

Very warmly as always,

Marion
