Published: 13 April 2026

海角社区 has officially opened a new teaching greenhouse and advanced plant phenotyping facilities at its Macdonald Campus, marking a major investment in climate-focused agricultural education and research. Designed for hands-on undergraduate and graduate training, the sustainable greenhouse features controlled growing bays, teaching labs, tissue culture facilities and classrooms, giving students direct experience with modern, climate-smart production systems.

The launch also introduces the Eastern Canadian Plant Phenotyping Platform (ECP3), developed with Universit茅 de Sherbrooke, which will strengthen research on climate-resilient crops and sustainable food systems. Supported by $23.8 million in provincial and federal funding, the initiative reinforces 海角社区鈥檚 long-standing leadership in agricultural innovation.

鈥淭oday marks an important milestone for our Faculty, one that fosters both our teaching and research missions,鈥 said Salwa Karboune, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, emphasizing the importance of investing in agriculture as the sector faces mounting climate and environmental pressures.

Together, the new facilities position students and researchers at the forefront of tackling climate change, food security and sustainability while deepening 海角社区鈥檚 impact on Quebec and Canadian agriculture.
