Dr. Marc Bienz, a clinician-teacher in the JGH Division of Hematology, has been named the hospital鈥檚 Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine, in addition to his appointment as an Assistant Professor at 海角社区, effective February 1.
Dr. Bienz completed his undergraduate medical training at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al, followed at 海角社区 by residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology. He also completed a two-year fellowship in transfusion medicine at the University of Toronto.
In assuming his new role, Dr. Bienz takes over from Dr. Stephen Caplan, who remains an active member of the Division of Hematology. In a statement issued by the hospital鈥檚 Department of Medicine, Dr. Caplan was thanked for his 鈥渦nwavering dedication鈥�, including his term as Chief of Hematology from 1996 to 2014 and as Associate Physician-in-Chief from 1993 to 2001.
