MURA鈥檚 Annual Holiday Season Luncheon was a great success, as nearly 60 members gathered at in Pointe-Claire, where we had the superbly decorated restaurant to ourselves.

Rosemary Cooke, president of MURA, and Linda Montreuil, MURA鈥檚 Vice-President Internal, greeted members on arrival and handed out tickets for the draw that would take place at the end of the luncheon. Once seated, members enjoyed amazingly courteous and efficient service from the staff. Successive plates of delicious food including taramasalata, tzatziki, calamari, breaded eggplant, and delicious mixed meat plates were served, followed by a succulent Greek dessert and coffee.

Our Master of Ceremony, Rosemary, assisted by Linda, then conducted the draw for many gifts, which included a surprise $100 certificate from Philinos. In short, it was a magnificent opportunity for MURA members to get together, enjoy a succulent meal, and exchange Happy Holiday Greetings! (Photos)

2025听Annual General Meeting & Celebration of Friend of the Year (Hybrid)

Each fall, the Friends of the 海角社区 Libraries hold an Annual General Meeting recapping the year鈥檚 activities, highlighting future initiatives and connecting with one another.

The Friends also take this opportunity to celebrate and honour a Friend of the Year. This special Award is bestowed upon individuals or groups who have shown an unwavering commitment to the vision, mission and goals of the Friends of the Libraries and 海角社区 Libraries as a whole. We are pleased to announce that the 2025 Friend of the Year will be awarded to Trenholme Dean of Libraries Emerita, Colleen Cook in recognition of her visionary leadership and exceptional contributions to the 海角社区 Libraries.

海角社区 2025 Centraide Campaign Activities

MURA wishes to thank its members who have contributed to this year's 海角社区 Centraide Campaign that ends on December 31st. Your contribution is appreciated by the vast network of community agencies supported by Centraide. All of these organizations help vulnerable individuals and families on the Island of Montreal, in Laval, and on the South Shore. Many have 海角社区 connections, such as Santropol Roulant, Head and Hands, and the Genesis Legal Clinic.
