SciLearn Opportunities for Instructors & Graduate Students

For Instructors

Since 2019, SciLearn activities have been integrated in over 25 Science courses, benefitting over 9,000 students. To promote a culture of neuroscience-informed teaching and learning at 海角社区, we work with instructors of Science courses in two primary ways:

1. SciLearn Guest Lectures

Invite a neuroscience of learning specialist to teach your students evidence-based learning strategies.

Instructors allocate class time (20 minutes or more) during which the SciLearn team gives a guest lecture tailored to the specific demands of your course. Some instructors opt to provide their students with supplemental engagement activities and/or a small incentive for participation (e.g. a 1% participation grade). After you express interest, our team will meet with you to customize the lecture to your course.

We are currently accepting requests for Guest Lectures in the Winter 2026 term.听

    2. SciLearn Peer Collaboration

Provide your students with the opportunity to learn collaboratively in a supportive environment.

"The Peer Collab" space is open on weekdays, 3-5 PM, and instructors choose the frequency/cadence of course-specific sessions, which are hosted by teaching assistants and peer mentors. The SciLearn team operates the space, providing all necessary materials, food and drinks for students. Each day, up to 10 Science courses are present in the space, providing students with a "one-stop-shop" experience.

We are currently accepting new Peer Collab courses for the Winter 2026 term.
