The majority of º£½ÇÉçÇø scholarships or awards for both newly-admitted and returning students are processed and visible on the recipient’s fee account by the end of July. These awards reduce the student's outstanding balance.

Fall Term:

Students will be able to view Fall term scholarships or awards on Minerva once they have been processed by the Scholarships and Student Aid Office. These awards are post-dated and will be released (if a registration exists) to the student's fee account as of August 1 before Fall fees are due.

Winter Term:

Students will be able to view upcoming Winter term scholarships or awards on Minerva once they have been processed by the Scholarships and Student Aid Office. These awards are post-dated and will be released (if a registration exists) to the student's fee account in January, before Winter fees are due.

External Scholarships, Awards, and Bursaries

Students may receive external scholarships from organizations, outside agencies, parents’ employers, or community groups. These awards are typically sent directly to the University. Ideally the awards will be accompanied by a letter that specifies:

  • Name of the student
  • ID of the student
  • Term(s) against which the funding should be applied

If we receive a payment without specific instructions, we will split the award in two to be applied against the Fall and Winter terms of the academic year in question. The Fall portion will apply within a day of deposit if the student is registered. The Winter portion will apply on the first business day in January.

What happens if the student does not meet the requirements of the scholarship?

The funds will be returned to the external body.

What if the scholarship will not arrive by the first due date?

If a student anticipates that an external scholarship will not be received by the University by the first due date of a term, they can request a temporary fee deferral for the amount of the scholarship. To do so, students must submit a .

A special fee deferral for the expected amount will be applied to the account; interest will not be charged on the deferred amount. The student is required to pay the balance due less the deferred amount by the due date to avoid interest. The deferral will expire by the end of September for the Fall term or January for the Winter term. Interest will be assessed on outstanding amounts beyond the deferral deadline.

How can scholarship be paid?

External scholarships can be sent by cheque (CAD or USD) or direct deposit to our Canadian bank account. Cheques should be mailed to:
